Trombonist Don Immel's debut release, Long Way Home, is a much needed bridge between serious contemporary jazz and jazz/pop. Immel's tunes are catchy and melodic- deceptively so, for a subtle undercurrent of musicality and harmonic sophistication pervades the album.
Don Immel is principal trombonist in the Sonderjyllands Symfoniorkester (Denmark). Joining Don on the album are Grammy-nominated Pianist Marc Seales, Garry Hobbs on drums, and Dave Captien on bass, as well as a host of well-known Northwest jazz musicians. The album was produced by Don Immel and Vincent LaBelle, and is distributed under the Elemental Music label.
